Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant

About the Project

3. and Unit 4 of the nuclear power plant

Construction 3. and unit 4 of the nuclear power plant in Mochovce (MO34) is unique not only in Slovakia, but also in the EU, where only 4 new nuclear units are currently under construction – two of them in Mochovce. The capacity of each unit will be 471 MWe and one reactor will cover 13% of the electricity consumption in Slovakia.

Compared to coal and gas-fired power plants, they will prevent 3. and Mochovce Unit 4 emit at least 5.2 million tonnes of CO2 into the air each year. That is, about as many as if more than two million cars and trucks disappeared from Slovak roads. This will contribute significantly to the EU’s plan to become carbon neutral by 2050.
